For the Zone to be effective the first thing we each need to do is to measure what we are doing now and then improve against it. The best way for us to do that is for us all to complete a Home Energy Checklist and Waste Checklist (one per household). It should only take about 10 minutes to do. If you like, we can help you complete the form. The High Barnet Green Home Zone is building a network of local residents that we call Street Champions. Our Street Champions are trained to not only help you complete the form but also to give you an introductory FREE home energy check. It only takes about 30 minutes to do and could save you up to £200 a year without you having to spend any money at all. WE can tell you about grants that you may be eligible for too.

Each of the Street Champions has different areas of interest, knowledge and experience. For example, we have energy, waste, transport, water, building materials and household products experts. During the Home Energy Check, our Street Champions will be happy to talk to you in more depth about specific areas of interest you may have. We can even provide a consultancy service should you wish to look at the options, for example, of having double glazing fitted, or solar thermal panels installed to heat your water from the sun’s energy.
